The comment came shortly after the announcement of a completely new model, claimed to be superior to any model OpenAI had developed to date. According to Jensen Huang, the era of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) has arrived. According to Fox Business Last Thursday, OpenAI unveiled its latest model, GPT-6 Astra, marking significant advancements in computer usage, programming, science, and routine professional tasks. Astra has begun rolling out to select enterprise customers. It will also be available to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise users, as well as through the OpenAI API and Amazon Web Services. Mr. Huang posted on X, congratulating the OpenAI team on achieving Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). He noted that Astra was trained using over 100,000 Nvidia Grace Blackwell NVLink72 chips. Mr. Huang pointed out that the industry has transitioned from the original ChatGPT to the reasoning model o1, and now to Astra, in just four years. He further added that an additional 400,000 GPUs are scheduled to come online in the future. There is no unified definition of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) within the technology industry. Generally, it refers to systems that possess reasoning capabilities equal to or exceeding those of humans and can acquire new skills without retraining from scratch. According to Fox Business, OpenAI defines Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) as highly autonomous systems that surpass humans in most economically valuable work. Meanwhile, Nvidia and Mr. Huang use different criteria, describing AGI as AI systems capable of achieving top-level scores on professional qualification exams and standardized tests. Prior to the announcement, OpenAI President Greg Brockman told reporters that Astra represents a turning point and that it would not be unreasonable to feel the industry has entered the era of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). What GPT-6 Astra Can Do OpenAI has hailed Astra as the most intelligent and capable model in its history. According to the company, Astra has reached new heights on rigorous benchmarks, scoring 98% on a math test known as FrontierMath Tier 4, achieving near-perfect results on ARC AGI 3, and posting high scores on ExploitBench, a cybersecurity test. According to OpenAI, Astra can handle not only test scores but also repetitive computer tasks such as filling out online forms, updating customer records, and organizing calendars. Furthermore, it is capable of researching topics, drafting documents, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and even testing software it has developed itself. In an interview with Fox Business, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that one of Astra's most impressive features is its ability to identify issues that users may not have thought to ask about. He cited the example of investigating complex semiconductor supply chains, noting that the model pointed out flaws not mentioned in the user's initial request. None of this would be possible without massive computing power, which is where Nvidia comes in. In its recent earnings release, Nvidia announced that Q2 revenue reached $96 billion, more than double the amount from the same period last year. Revenue from its Data Center segment hit $89 billion. The company forecasts revenue of $108 billion for the current quarter and expects fiscal 2028 revenue to increase by approximately 70% year-over-year, despite supply constraints. During a conference call with analysts, Mr. Huang stated that AI agents consume 15 to 100 times more computing power than humans performing the same tasks, as they engage in planning, reasoning, and tool use across multiple steps. He also noted that Nvidia's growth is constrained not by technology or customer demand, but by the actual amount of computing capacity the company can supply. During the conference call, Mr. Huang also touched on Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), stating, 'In many ways, for many tasks, we can arguably say we have already achieved AGI.' He added that the fact that AI is performing useful and profitable work at scale is more important than chasing milestones. What lies ahead for Nvidia's stock price? Nvidia's next-generation platform, 'Vera Rubin,' has already begun shipping, and the company expects it to be its fastest product rollout to date. Mr. Huang stated that demand from hyperscalers, AI labs, nations, and corporations continues to grow at a pace that exceeds the supply capacity of the supply chain. As OpenAI leverages Nvidia's hardware to enhance Astra's performance and rivals compete to catch up, investors will continue to closely watch Nvidia's stock price leading up to 2027, when public debate surrounding AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) is expected to intensify. Among the 50 analysts covering Nvidia stock, 45 recommend a 'Strong Buy,' 3 a 'Moderate Buy,' 1 'Neutral,' and 1 a 'Strong Sell.' The average target price for Nvidia stock is $325, exceeding the current share price of $226. Disclaimer: Community is offered by Moomoo Technologies Inc. and is for educational purposes only.
