Temu joins three Belgian EPR schemes - Recycling International

E-commerce platform Temu has joined three Belgian producer responsibility organisations (PROs) to help sellers meet their extended producer responsibility (EPR) obligations. The company has joined Recupel for electrical and electronic equipment, PV CYCLE Belgium for photovoltaic panels and Bebat for batteries. The memberships give Temu sellers access to local systems for registration, reporting, collection and recycling. They also cover the financing and organisation of waste management for the respective streams. Three waste streams Recupel connects sellers of electrical and electronic equipment with accredited collectors and recyclers for compliant treatment of e-scrap. PV CYCLE Belgium provides collection, reporting and recycling infrastructure for end-of-life solar panels. Meanwhile, Bebat supports sellers with Belgian battery regulations and registration, as well as the collection and recycling of waste batteries. Temu says the memberships are intended to help sellers comply with Belgium’s EPR framework while supporting local collection and recycling systems. The company continues to monitor changes to EPR requirements and work with PROs and sellers on compliance. European EPR network The Belgian agreements form part of a wider network of partnerships Temu has established across Europe. The company says it now cooperates with more than 60 PROs across the European Union. These partnerships cover several EPR categories, including packaging, batteries, electrical and electronic equipment and photovoltaic panels. For Belgian consumers, Temu also provides information about local recycling options and official collection points through its EPR compliance webpage.
