TikTok Shop introduces new fees, up to 65,000 VND: Sellers are shocked. Accordingly, a logistics operating fee will be applied from 0:00 on October 12th to packages on TikTok Shop weighing over 10kg. This fee will be calculated per order, per package, based on the chargeable weight. Logistics operating fees are calculated based on the weight of each package, starting at 3,000 VND/package for a 10kg package. The fee increases progressively with weight increments of 0.5kg, up to a maximum of 65,000 VND/package for packages weighing 20.5kg or more. TikTok Shop states that this is a fee collected from sellers throughout the order's lifecycle to cover logistics costs, including processing, coordination, and resolving delivery-related issues. The fee is calculated per order based on the chargeable weight of the package. According to the platform, this fee helps it "continuously improve the quality and sustainability of its logistics network," thereby better serving sellers and customers in the long term in a constantly changing global environment. This fee is not collected directly from customers but applies to sellers. TikTok Shop states that customers are not affected by the new fee. However, if an order has been successfully delivered but the buyer later requests a return or refund, the logistics operating fee already collected will not be refunded to the seller. If we increase the selling price to cover the costs, we worry customers will switch to buying elsewhere," the shop owner stated. A seller of household goods on TikTok Shop also stated that products such as air fryers, vacuum cleaners, or kitchenware sets are often heavy, while the value of each order is not always high enough to absorb the additional logistics costs. According to this person, the fact that fees are calculated per package means that orders with many products can easily incur significant additional costs. "Shops will have to recalculate their selling prices or offer promotions. For heavy orders, even an extra few tens of thousands of dong in costs can affect profits," this seller said. The provisional fee in the "Pending Settlement" section is determined based on the package dimensions declared by the seller when listing the product. Therefore, sellers are advised to accurately declare the dimensions and weight of their packages to minimize discrepancies between the estimated fee and the actual amount deducted.
