An urgent recall has been issued for the Shein Children’s Wooden Acrylic Rainbow Sensory Blocks as they do not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011. It was found that the sand inside the wooden sensory blocks may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health, even at low levels of exposure. In light of this, Shein has pulled the listing for the product from its website and the toy has been recalled from customers. Anyone who bought the product is being urged to 'stop using it immediately' and 'keep it away from children'. A Shein spokesperson said: "It's come to our attention that the products present a risk to health as the sand inside the four sand-filled blocks may be contaminated with a small quantity of asbestos. "Asbestos is a banned substance because it poses a risk to health even at low levels of exposure. We're sincerely sorry for the inconvenience and will process a refund of the product by the same payment method used for the purchase. The return of the product is not necessary.
